I play a lot of games. No lie.

I like to buy games, I like to play games, and I like to build games.

But lately it feels like there are more great games coming out than I have time to play, so instead I buy them and shelve them... Adding them to my "backlog". But with no end in sight to the parade of fantastic games, I need some time to catch up on making games, and to catch up on playing my backlog.

So I have come up with a plan. The pact.

The pact is simple, only two rules:

1. I am only allowed to spend money on media (games, mp3s, videos, game hardware and peripherals, etc.) that I earn from building games.
2. I am only allowed to buy one game for each game in my backlog that I solve.

It seems simple enough, but if I continue it through all of 2009 (which is my plan) I think it should prove to be both a challenge and a decent motivating force.
