Okay, I admit it, I'm a major nerd. Of course, if you have read even a single of my other posts you recognize that this is no great revelation. What does come as a surprise to many is that I am more than just a video game nerd. Inside this gamer also lurks a bit of a book nerd.
So when I found out that one of my favorite authors, Robert J. Sawyer, was coming to town to do a reading from his latest novel I couldn't resist... I had to go. I had never been to a book reading before, nor had I ever been to a reading. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Robert is both a great writer and a very enthusiastic performer. He read his passage with great flair, even putting on voices for each of the characters. It was only after the reading that I discovered that he once worked in radio.
Needless to say, I couldn't resist getting a picture with him. Unfortunately in this digital age it won't be worth anything when someone picks up the option to make one of his books into a mega-blockbuster film... But it will always be worth a certain amount of nerd street cred, I guess.
